Kayla's musical journey began in her childhood Park Hill home in Denver, Colorado, coming from a deeply creative family that includes her uncle Larry Dunn of Earth, Wind & Fire, her saxophonist father, her writer mother, and her musician and dancer sister. While not originally set on a music career, her relationship with sound shifted during her teenage years from a lighthearted hobby into an essential outlet to process pain into beauty.
She began performing under her birth name, Kayla Marque, in 2012, releasing her debut album Live and Die Like This in 2016—an ethereal alternative pop project that instantly launched her to the forefront of the Denver music scene. In 2020, she released Brain Chemistry, a transcendent double album diving deep into themes of self-love, trauma, and mental health through the concept of examining the Left Brain and Right Brain. Beginning a new era focused on getting out of your head and into your body, she co-founded The Grand Alliance alongside Sur Ellz (Khalil Arcady) and Crl Crrll (Carl Carrell), releasing their funky, genre-bending self-titled debut in 2021. Her third studio album, Midheaven, released in August 2024, continued in a more playful energy, exploring themes of beauty, pleasure, and fantasy while remaining grounded in the raw honesty that ties all her work together.
In 2025, Marque expanded the sonic world of Midheaven through a series of dynamic remix tracks, marking the start of an expansive creative chapter. Embracing a multidimensional role centered around music medicine (the philosophy that sound is a vital tool for healing, processing, and collective transformation), she ventured into DJing, crafting immersive journeys that transport listeners into transcendent, deeply felt spaces. To anchor this intuitive work in academic study, Marque returned to school in August 2026 to pursue a degree in Music Therapy at Colorado State University (CSU). She further expanded her artistic range by making her film acting debut in STATIC, exploring themes of internal space and human resilience on screen. Following the release of compelling new singles such as "Fever Dream" and "Roses" throughout 2026, Kayla Marque continues to bridge the worlds of performance and healing, with even more new music on the horizon.

Live Performance and Sonic Curation
Kayla Marque is a multidisciplinary artist who has always believed music is something closer to medicine than entertainment. She moves easily between worlds: the quiet intimacy of her Acoustic sets; the expansive pull of her Full Band performances; and her work as a Sonic Architect (aka DJ), where she weaves Afro House, Latin Funk, Amapiano, and beyond into something that isn’t so much as a playlist as it is a collective journey.
Whatever room she's in, she's reading it and feeling it, which helps her effortlessly shape the energy of the space with intention and care. That's the heart of her Music Medicine philosophy. Whether you're sitting with the vulnerability of a single voice and a guitar, or losing yourself on a dance floor at 2am with strangers who suddenly feel like family, Kayla is guiding you far out of your head as you ground back into the body.
